Breathe Personal and Organisational Development

Hello, and welcome to our website.

Breathe Personal and Organisational Development specialises in bespoke and affordable performance improvement interventions tailored to clients’ needs. Our company is built on strong client relationships, and successes are delivered through robust learning and development practices.

We work with clients to ascertain their exact performance needs and then provide personalised solutions to meet those needs.

The common denominator in everything we do is that it is designed to bring about lasting change.

We have over 40 years combined experience working with both groups and individuals. From primary school age to people who have retired, within the public, private and third sectors, locally and internationally.

There are many things that make us different from other providers, but perhaps the most striking is our “No performance improvement, no fee” guarantee. Our primary aim is to work with you to improve your performance. To demonstrate this, we will agree with you the performance improvement measurements you want from our services prior to delivery. And simply, if we do not achieve those measurements, we will not charge you. How many other providers have that level of belief in their services?

We look forward to hearing from you.

Paul Ackerley, Chartered FCIPD

Feedback from clients

It was good to work with you again, Paul. Your preparation meant that we got the most out of our 2 days. You got everyone involved from the word go but without being directive - a winning ploy for a facilitator! I also thought that your easy style negated any cultural differences that might have existed.

Thank you for your hard work. We achieved much more than I had dared hope for and I think that Anti-Doping will be stronger in a few years’ time as a result of our discussions.
(David Kenworthy QPM, DL, Chair, UK Anti-Doping)

Peta made the workshop enjoyable and fun! I found all aspects of the session enjoyable, relaxing and understandable. The workshop has enabled me to look at my coaching techniques and to develop them in a manner to suit all the people in my team. (Delegate)

What struck me most was the highly practical and interactive approach adopted by Paul as he weaved his magic during the course of the program. His sessions were thought provoking, insightful, challenging and uplifting with hardly a dull moment thanks to Paul's inimitable style and sense of humour. He helped me enhance my self-awareness, examine my behavioral patterns and manage relationships better. A trainer and coach with a difference, Paul leaves an indelible impression. (Shalini Puri, Manager, Vertex India)

Paul spent a great deal of his time over that 3 weeks on the phone to me, helping me to think more positively, recognise the skills that I have, and breaking down the exam so that I could approach it more calmly. Now 4 months later and I have just got my exam result, to find I not only passed, I got a distinction!! Paul's help was invaluable, and I can't thank him enough!" (Sarah Fletcher, CIPD student)

Feedback from the staff has been extremely positive and all those I have spoken to felt they benefited considerably from the two days. They all spoke highly of your level of knowledge of the subject and also the skills you displayed in managing the needs of all involved.

The service you have provided has been both appropriate and of the highest quality. We will have no hesitation in recommending the use of your company in the future, both within our organisation and to all our other customers. (Director of Training)

Paul Ackerley is definitely the best trainer I have ever met. He's passionate about what is being delivered and has a huge amount of knowledge and skills to share. The material provided in the training was good but would have been nothing without the information from Paul. He made the training fun and enjoyable and it was never a chore to attend. I hope one day to attend further training with Paul. Thank you. (Delegate)

Paul has held several training and development sessions for my teams in the last few years. I have always found his sessions skilled, insightful and to leave an impact on the workplace which for me is the key to a great trainer. He has the ability to take on all forms of feedback and personal stories and bring about the genuine issues making the training real to the individual. I would definitely recommend Paul Ackerley for any business or sector due to the difference it can make to team and individual performance. (Kirstie Bower, MinstF (cert), Area Manager, Guide Dogs for the Blind)

Useful course as all the content was relevant to me. TA very interesting and made a lot of sense and relevant to my role. (Delegate)

Paul’s expertise in all subjects for me is unrivaled. The course I attended had Workshops, which were then followed up by Action Learning Sets, which meant I could put theory into practise. Paul's training methods and skills are unique. He made the course interesting by using different styles. Paul has a fantastic way of simplifying and explaining things. (Shahid Hassan, Team Specialist and Manager, Vertex UK)

Workshops have been excellent and have made me understand a lot more of what makes a good manager. Found all of the subjects covered interesting, but the main one for me is the difference between management and leadership. (Delegate)

As a result of your considerable efforts we reached a number of good outcomes and it is clear that everyone found the meeting a success. (Andy Parkinson Chief Executive, UK Anti-Doping)

Enjoyed the whole day. Found Peta very comfortable, made you think and encouraged all to join in discussions. (Delegate)

The trainer! Paul was fantastic. He had a wonderful way of explaining things in different ways and had bags of experience too, which I feel is important. (Delegate)

Excellent course. Just the right amount of time. Sometimes courses can run for too long. (Delegate)

All very entertaining. Great informational content. Great pace. High level of intellect. (Delegate)

The highlight of his workshop was the fact that he lets you grow as an individual and the entire process is very enriching and positive. He goes beyond his official role and is always ready to provide additional support if need be, which is a very unique quality. (Mou Dasgupta, Manager and Coach, Vertex India)

I think the Experiential Learning Cycle will be very useful in my approach to coaching. I found this session very interesting and feel that I can take these skills onto the floor and use them to effectively develop the team and myself. (Delegate)

I found the ELC the most interesting part as it showed me the difference that proper coaching can make. (Delegate)

I found all parts of this session very useful and directly related to my role and it provided clarity on many aspects. Facilitator was very positive and the interactive approach in delivering the session made it very interesting. (Delegate)

Peta has a good manner and controlled the session well, helped to show where I need to improve my skills. (Delegate)

Peta was very good and obviously is experienced and confident in delivering material and starting discussions. Very good at open questioning and getting to the bottom of areas e.g. getting us thinking about impacts of our actions. (Delegate)

Very good informative, fun workshop that has made me question my coaching skills and the ego values adopted. Very well presented by Peta as always. Riveting. (Delegate)

Kept us all interested, wasn’t boring. Thank you for teaching me some new skills! (Delegate)

The whole session was great. I enjoyed the course and found it very helpful. Especially because there were no slides / Powerpoints and very few role play scenarios. I will put into practice what I’ve learnt. (Delegate)

The form used for coming up with some goals was excellent making it simple and easy to understand. (Delegate)

Very informative and helpful. Good group interaction and blend of different areas of business. (Delegate)

I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and the delivery style of the trainer who encouraged lots of interaction including challenging my usual thought processes. (Delegate)

I found the whole session to be interesting as it gave everyone a chance to participate. Peta injects enthusiasm into the course which makes me want to learn more. (Delegate)

I thought the session was brilliant. (Delegate)

The whole session was very good. Very informative and clear. Really good learning session as usual with Peta. (Delegate)

The trainer Paul Ackerley was supportive and understanding. I found he was patient with all of the people on the course and he is also very knowledgeable. I found that Paul was very helpful in all aspects of the course. Nothing was ever too much for Paul and I personal feel that if it wasn’t for Paul I may not have completed the course. (Delegate)

The course was very interesting and helpful to my role. The interaction of the group was very good and Peta got everyone involved. (Delegate)

I really enjoyed this course. It was very interactive and enjoyable and I feel like I am coming away with a lot of knowledge. (Delegate)

The Belbin exercise made me realise that I am not exactly the person I think I am and that I have qualities I didn't recognise in myself. (Delegate)
